What to Expect During an Injury Visit

Step 1

Injury History

The provider will ask how and when the injury occurred.

Step 2

Physical Examination

The examination may evaluate pain, swelling, bruising, movement, circulation, sensation, and wound depth.

Diagnostic Testing

X-rays or other testing may be recommended when appropriate.

Step 4

Treatment

Testing may be recommended when it is likely to provide useful information.

Follow-Up Instructions

Patients receive guidance about activity, wound care, symptom monitoring, re-evaluation, or specialty follow-up.

Injury Treatment FAQs

Symptoms may overlap. A provider will examine the injury and may recommend an X-ray when imaging could help determine whether a fracture is present.

Stone Creek may repair selected lacerations when the wound can be safely treated in an urgent-care setting. The provider will determine whether stitches, adhesive, another closure method, or referral is appropriate.

Cuts should be evaluated promptly, especially when they are deep, contaminated, continue bleeding, or may involve a joint, tendon, nerve, or sensitive area.

Stone Creek may remove selected superficial foreign bodies. The provider will evaluate the object’s size, depth, location, and associated injury before recommending removal.

Stone Creek may evaluate selected workplace injuries. Employers and employees should call to confirm authorization, documentation, billing, and drug-screen requirements.

Some injuries require wound checks, suture removal, repeat imaging, activity restrictions, or specialty follow-up. The provider will explain the appropriate next steps.
